Full Biography D.R. Hill
D.R. Hill is originally from Birmingham, UK and has an Honours Degree (2.1) in Drama and English from Hull University. He is currently studying an MA Acting at East 15 Drama School (completing July 2020).
In his earlier career, Hill worked as a theatre director (Associate Director, Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham and Artistic Director, Theatre Station Blyth) before founding and establishing his own business, ArtReach, as a Creative Producer and Cultural Consultancy. Over twenty years ArtReach has become an established deliverer in the UK arts festival sector, as well as a nationally recognised consultant to arts organisations.
He has previously written for theatre, both as a solo writer and collaborator, with work produced at Theatre Station and as part of Youth Theatre presentations at Everyman Cheltenham. More recently he has produced a body of short stories which was shortlisted in 2019 for the Eyelands Book Awards. He has been offered a publishing contract for a collection of the short stories, which is entitled This is Exhibit B.
In 2019 Hill became non-executive Chair of ArtReach, which achieved registered charity status. This change in role has freed him up to spend more time writing and also allowed him to undertake the MA Acting course at East 15. He has completed two full length plays and a short play which he is in the process of submitting to competition opportunities and directly to theatres.
D.R. Hill is also currently Chair of the charity Play to the Crowd, which encompasses Theatre Royal Winchester, and was Vice Chair of Leicester Theatre Trust (Curve Theatre) for seven years. He is married with two sons and lives in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
