General help

Where can I find things to read?

You'll find books, poetry and short stories that authors have shared in our Feedback Pool. Click the Feedback Pool top menu item to see the latest additions, then click the links to see only books, poems or stories, or to search by genre.

How do I find out more about an author?

To see more details about an author, click their name in any book, poem or story listing. You can follow authors using the button on their profile to get notified as soon as they post new work.

I can see poems and stories, but how do I read books?

Poems and stories are available for you to read anytime, but books can only be requested when an author has made copies available. Authors can make PDF, ePub and Kindle copies available to review, share feedback or both.

If a book listing shows the button, you can send your request for a copy directly to the author. This is not automated, so please allow time for them to respond. Authors may have limited copies, or be looking for reviews or feedback from certain groups of people, so please don't be offended if your request is turned down.

Once an author has approved your request you’ll be notified and the book will appear in your Reading Library.

Can I follow other users?

Yes, you can follow other users to see what they're reading, rating and reviewing and to see their shared reading lists.

Can I message other users?

Yes, you can message other users who have opted in to our messenger using the button on their profile. Once you've messaged each other, or of you're following them, you can message them straight from the messenger (envelope) icon in your top menu bar.

How do I update my profile?

You'll find all of your personal account controls on your top right user menu when you're logged in (it has your name in it and a red drop down arrow). From here, click My profile to update your picture, location, date of birth and other details.

Can I change my plan?

Yes, you can change your plan anytime. Click My plan in your User menu to see your current plan and status, then click the Change Plan link to switch. If you're on a paid plan, we'll automatically calculate any difference in your subscription and update your future payments.

How do I control the alerts and notifications I receive?

To control all of your account settings and notifications, click My settings in your User menu and toggle on or off alerts, messages and other settings however suits you.

I'm logged in but I can't see how to do anything

The left-hand dashboard menu is where you'll find all of your create and edit links. This menu auto-collapses on smaller screens, so if you can't see it toggle it open with the button in the upper left corner.

Author help

I've registered as an author. Now what do I do?

When you registered, we created a default author profile for you. Head to your Home page ( Home in your User menu) and look down the left hand menu, you'll see My authors there. Select your name to go into that author detail page and use the to add or change any details. To keep your workspace clearer, selecting Books, Poems etc in the Writes section will change the menu items shown in your left hand menu.

Why do I have a User profile and an Author profile?

Your author profile is seperate to your user account, so that you can share alternative emails and social media details and have more than one author profile (if you write under a number of pen names).

How do I add my books, poems or stories?

Once you’ve updated or created your author profile you can add books, poems and short stories via the author’s detail page, or the left-side menu My books, My poems and My stories links. If you can't see these, make sure you have selected them in your author profile (see above)

How do I share copies of my book?

Books are visible as soon as they are live, but you need to start a promo campaign to offer copies for reading, review or feedback. To do this, head to your book's detail page using the left-side menu and click the button. Campaigns you have already made are at the bottom of the book detail page.

Campaigns allow you to control how many copies you offer, set open and close dates and state whether you're looking for feedback, reviews or both.

You can only have two live promo campaigns for each book at any one time, one invite only and one public. You can schedule campaigns to start in the future, or leave the close date unset to keep them running permanently.

How do I know if someone has posted feedback, a rating or review?

Once a reader has read your book, poem or story, you'll get a notification as soon as they post a review, feedback or rating.

Do I have to pay to send submissions?

No, we never charge you to send submissions, you can send as many as you like completely free! The only time you'll be charged is if a publishers has an entry fee for their competition or other submission fee.

How do I send a submission?

All our current submission opportunities are listed in the Opportunities directory. When you've found something you want to apply for, you can either click the and work through the form, or add your work via your homepage first and then start your submissions.

Our submissions process takes you step by step through everything required by the publisher, so you won't miss anything. Our final checklist helps you make sure you've included everything (in fact you can't hit submit until you're submission is complete). You can save your submission at any time to come back to it. You'll find all your draft and sent submissions in the My submissions left-side menu, where you can edit (continue) them or check the status of submissions already sent.

Publisher help

I've registered as a publisher. Now what do I do?

Head to your Home page ( Home in your User menu) and look down the left hand menu, you'll see My publishers there. Click this to open the dropdown menu and click Add new. This will take you to the create publisher page, where you can add all the details about your imprint or magazine and upload your logo. From your new publisher detail page you can add team members, your authors or use the button to access your submissions area and add a new call out or channel.

How do I start accepting submissions?

To start collecting submissions, head to your publisher detail page from the home page left-side menu. From there, click the button and then . Here you can add general submissions guidelines that apply to all and any submissions, calls and channels, and click to open a new call out.

Each submissions channel can be configured independently to collect books, poetry, stories etc, with a full range off criteria of wordcount, supporting material and author details. Once your channel is set up, click to make it live, or save as a draft.

How do I create a commission?

You create a commission in exactly the same way as you create a submissions channel (see above) Once you've added all the details to your commission, save it as private or public and then send out invites to writers using the or buttons.

How do I invite people to commissions or to submit?

With any private or public commission or submissions channel you can send out invites or share the link with your writers and authors. The button opens a pop-up window to send an invite to your listed authors or enter an email. You can add a message if you like, which will be automatically added to your wubbub messenger. Alternatively, use the button to copy and share the URL any way you choose.

How will I know when we've received a submission?

We'll send a notification to every team member assigned to a commission or submissions channel each time someone submits to it.

Can I charge a submissions fee?

Yes, you can. Make sure you have selected your preferred currency in your publisher settings, and then enter the fee amount in the submissions channel settings. Submitters will be charged the fee at the point they complete their submission.

Collected fees are processed by our payment provider and show in your publisher account. Our processing fees are 4% plus a flat £0.50 (or equivalent currency).

How do I withdraw fees collected?

To withdraw your funds, simply head to your publisher page and click the button. From here, click .

How do I share copies of our books?

Can I use a publisher account to find beta readers and share ARCs?

Yes, you can. Once you have set up your publisher profile, add your authors, their books, poems and short stories from the publisher detail page and upload any book files in each book detail.

Your readers can find an read all your published poetry and short stories from your public profile. For books, follow the 'How do I share copies' guide above.

How do I add team members?

To invite your team to join your publisher, head to the publisher detail using the left-side menu from your home page and open the Team panel. From there, click the button, add their name, email and job title and select which permissions they should have. Click to invite them.

I have a publisher account. Can I publish my own work too?

Sure. Head to My profile in your User menu and in your profile settings select I publish my own work too (just above the favorite genre checkboxes). You'll now have author features equivalent to the free author plan.
